    • Drayden Johnson, wife of Joseph King was the daughter of Samuel Johnson and his wife Mary.
      In Charles County, Maryland, Wills Liber 29, page # 236 the will of Samuel Johnson recorded as follows- I will my wife Mary to hold all land I now possess while a widow, otherwise only one third. To my son, John Johnson an iron pot. To son Samuel, 1 shilling, sterling. All personal estate not devised between sons John and Seth and daughters, Jemima, Rachel and Drayden Johnson. To daughter Mary 1 shilling sterling. To son William 100 acres " Keets Purchase " at south end of tract called
      " Johnsons Purchase " and 1 shilling sterling. To daughter Rhoda, 70 acres, being North end of tract called " Johnsons Purchase ", but if she die without issue, then to son William. To Rhoda also ( ? )
      Wife Mary, executor. November 10, 1748. Wit: Joseph Glaze, William Poston, James Eaton.

      Memoranda: On 23 March 1749 came the widow of testator before me and declared she would not accept legacies given her and chuses what the law allows. Signed Walter Hanson.

      In the Settlement of the above estate the widows name is given as Elizabeth, which leads to some
      confusion. Her name may have been Mary Elizabeth. On February 2,1750 came Elizabeth the accountant and made oath on the Evangelist of All Mighty God that the above is a just and true account of her administration of the estate of Samuel Johnson above mentioned, which said account after due
      examination was passed. In this settlement she mentions nine children as follows: Jemima, Samuel, John, Rachel and Mary Johnson, all of full age; Zeth will be twenty years old 20 January last; William Johnson 15 years old 10 of September next; Drayden Johnson 12 years old 6 of May next ( May 6, 1750 ) and Rody Johnson ( a girl ) seven years old 27 of March next. Signed Walter Hanson, Deputy Commissary of Charles County, MD. The above record would place the birth of Samuel 1690-1695.
      Date of birth of Drayden May 6, 1738.

      In the Clerk's Office of Charles County, MD, Deed G #3, page # 407 appears this deed record. At the request of Joseph King the following deed was recorded March 12, 1760. Indenture February 29, 1760 between William Johnson of Fairfax County, Virginia and one part and Joseph King of Charles County, the other part. The said William Johnson in consideration of 6400 pounds of crop tobacco doth hereby acquite the said Joseph King his executors and administrators and doth hereby grant, bargain, sell enfeefee ( sic ) and convey unto the said Joseph King, his heirs and assigns a parcel of land called " Keets Purchase" lying in Charles County of 50 acres and part of land lying in said county
      called " Johnsons Purchase " of 50 acres being land willed me by my father, Samuel Johnson, deceased. In witness whereof the said William Johnson has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal, March 12, 1760. In the presence of St. Thomas Jenifer and Daniel Jenifer, February 29, 1760.
      The purchase of the above land was made very shortly ( about four years ) after the marriage of Joseph to William's sister Draden. The records of Joseph King and Draden Johnson's Family will be found in a pen written volume in the Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore, MD and is a copy of the Trinity Parish Register of Charles County, Maryland. Trinity Parish was established from All Faiths and King and Queen Parishes. St. Mary's County in 1744. On page # 200, Joseph King and Draden Johnson
      united in Holy Matrimony, June 14, 1756. The children's record is given on the preceeding page. Page # 206, Basil King and Deborah Walters married by Reverend Isaac Campbell on September 1783. Deborah King died October 16, 1785.
