    • SOURCE NOTES FOR GERALD:

1/30/05 from Dad: Gerald enlisted in the United States Army in 1939. He attended Basic Training
at Fort Bening, Georgia and was assigned to the 2nd Armour Division Tank Corp. He shipped out for
the Invasion of North Africa in World War II under General George Patton. He traveled from North Africa
to Sicily, Italy on Patton's march to Berlin. He was wounded twice in battle. He was discharged and returned to Florida where he then wanted to become a doctor like his wife Glova's brother but with his
wounds he wasn't able to stand for long periods of time. He then decided to become a Dentist but
standing was extreme so he elected to become a pharmacist at the University of Maryland where Glova Royers family was from. He had a pharmacy in Pahokee, Florida for many a year but Glova and Gerald decided to return to Maryland where he worked for a pharmacutical company.
** He died in Ohio while working for a Pharmacy rep, buried in Maryland
His death was from Kidney failure due to pain medication from his wounds. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Maryland where the Royer family has numerous family burials there.

Gerald, Alma & Virginia were all graduates of Lake Worth High School.
