      Valentine Overton King was a lawyer, historical writer, journalist and diplomat. He was Minister to Columbia during the Cleveland Administration. Being a man of wealth he spent much of his time abroad.
      He lived for a number of years in San Antonio, Texas and was the author of " The Battle of San Jacinto, " and " The Cherokee Nation of Indians ".
