      Nathaniel was a farmer in the 1850 ( Alabama Census, DeKalb Co., District # 24)
      Nathaniel ( General ) Warren McCurdy was born September 21,1832 in Limestone Creek, Alabama. He was the son of Elijah McCurdy ( Jr. ) and Rosa Ann Jones. Nathaniel Warren McCurdy and Martha A.
      Brown were married on May 8,1853 by J.W. Gibson, MG in DeKalb Co, Alabama. He was known as
      "General ". The Reverend Nathaniel Warren " General " McCurdy was an ordained minister of the Baptist Church at Town Creek, DeKalb County on 8 May,1867. He was one of the " feet washing " Baptists.
      " Grand Pap was a Circuit Riding Preacher who traveled with a Bible and a whiskey bottle ( for medicinal purposes ) in his saddle bag. " as told by his grandaughter, Vivian Clark Lessley ( Rebecca Frances
      McCurdy ). Reverend McCurdy later organized Mount Hermon Church in an old log building. DeKalb
      County records show that he married many couples. Mount Hermon Church is still active in the Pine
      Ridge Community of Fort Payne, Alabama. Nathaniel died November 19,1914 in DeKalb County at 82 years of age. He is interred at Mount Hermon Cemetery in DeKalb Co., Alabama.
